The Latest

5/1/2025Welp, I had this whole, nice big thing written out on 4-19. It was good, informative with just a bit of humor. But I never hit the save button. Now it's gone. Such is life.Anyway, if you're here, you want to know what's going on. Maybe you want to know why I haven't published anything since June of '24.Truth is, Hubs (what I'll call my husband here since typing out 'my husband' every time is super annoying) and I both ran up against some not so great health problems last year. We're both doing better now, finally, but those issues drastically affected my ability to be productive.I'm still in recovery mode. That doesn't mean I haven't gotten anything done since June of last year, I have, it's just mostly background stuff. Working on outlines for future novels. Marketing. Commissioning artists. Re-editing books 1-3. Fighting with formatting software. Research. Drafting. Staring at the ceiling while catastrophizing. All important, productive things (besides that last one) but not a one got me any closer to releasing the next book. It's still going to be a bit before book 5 is done. In the meantime, I've been pushing ahead on 6 and 7. There's also a novella in the works (and it's like... 80% done, yay). I'm not ready to set release dates or anything like that, but I am committed to completing these novels.I've learned a lot since deciding to publish, namely that perfection is a pipe dream that's hard to let go of. Great is a more realistic goal and sometimes good enough is just that. Also, taking time off is important. Burning out is bad. Staying on top of your health and getting help when needed is good. That's it for now. Keiera out.P.S. This is Lucky, the 11 year old Chihuahua I adopted back in January. He spends most of his day how I wish I could spend mine; wrapped up in a cozy blanket and completely oblivious to everything that happens outside of his domain.

There's not much to tell, honestly. I'm a simple woman. Late 30s, married, no kids, one dog (pictured below. Adopted in Jan, 11 years old, and spends most of his time under cozy blankets), one snail, and probably too many plants. Thanks to a Mom that did a lot of reading with me as a kid, I got into reading pretty damn early. We'd go shopping for groceries and I'd be following the cart around with my nose stuck in a Goosebumps or Babysitter's Club book the whole time, just walking and reading while trying not plow into anything. And I had an overactive imagination. When I wasn't reading, I was daydreaming, writing my own stories in my head to fill the time. Some story lines went on for more than a year. Others came and went. And the daydreaming thing never really stopped. At night, I'd move the plot forward until I fell asleep. Sometimes I'd go back and retcon things, but mostly just pantsed the heck out of it. I got older, got a computer, and started writing.I've gone through multiple periods of total obsession followed by complete indifference. The worst case hit during college (being an MMO addict did not help). I stopped writing for a decade. But I never stopped daydreaming. The stories in my head continued. Was it maladaptive daydreaming? Probably.
